The Voice of Democratic Eritrea - 1998 - Clandestine - Station Overview

9230 kHz in 1998 from a clandestine transmitter located in Sudan. The transmitter was shared with other regional
opposition stations like the Voice of Truth (Voice of the Eritrean Islamic Jihad) and Voice of Free Eritrea.
In late 1999, the station shifted from 9230 kHz to 8020 kHz. Following political pressure and the cessation
of Sudan-based operations, the station later leased European relay transmitters, such as Deutsche Telekom
facilities in Germany, to broadcast into the Horn of Africa on different frequencies.
